How has technology impacted the architecture industry? The uses of technology seems like it is growing daily. In the architecture industry, drawing the designs by hand is a thing of the past. Now, most architects use technology to help them in their design phase of the project.
Most architects use many types of software to aid them. The most common software used is CAD (Computer Aided Drafting). CAD is a process of creating a drawing using computer software. CAD is more than just the drawing themselves. CAD is also used to display the materials, dimensions, and tolerances.
CAD is very useful in helping the architect display his/her design. CAD also helps the productivity of the architect, as well as improves communication through the design. CAD can display its information in 2D and 3D. The 3D representation of the design will aid the manufacturer by allowing them to get a very good idea of what the product should look like.
CAD is used in many aspects of engineering and designing. CAD is part of the Digital Product Development activity, which is part of developing a digital product/software. Other types of tools/software that are like CAD are

·         Computer-aided engineering
·         Computer-aided manufacturing
·         Photo realistic rendering
As you can tell, there are other similar software that are all used to help the architect’s/engineer’s/designer’s job easier.
Computers have long been used for calculating. The use of computers to aid the architecture industry is important. Without the use of computers, the architect’s job would be much harder. Also, the projects would take more time to complete without the use of CAD. The longer that it takes the architect to complete a project, the less time he/her has to work on another project. This means he/her would not be able to make as much money as they could if they used CAD.
