Conclusion

CAD has played a very important role in the architecture/engineering industry since the early 1960's. Since the development of "Sketchpad"(the very first CAD product)designed by Ivan Sutherland for his PhD thesis while he attended MIT, architecture has never been the same. Architects and Engineers around the world use CAD to help them design a building, home, product, and many more things. Like I said in my intro, the uses of CAD seems like they are growing daily. Due to the computer being very expensive and the requirements of mechanical engineering in the automobile and aircraft industry, large aircraft and car companies were the first commercial users of CAD.

CAD has changed a lot since it was first developed. When CAD was first started, there was only a 2D view. Now, architects can view their designs in a 3D view/model, to give themselves and their clients an accurate model of what the building will look like. Another thing that has changed since CAD was first introduced is, there was just the floor plan. Now there is the Electrical and Elevation plan. The views are just one of many things that have changed over the period of 50 years that CAD and other similar products/software have been out.

Throughout my project, I have learned many things, such as how much work goes into designing a building/home and how many professions use CAD to help them with their job. Architects have very hard jobs that require long hours of work. I hope that you will now look at the use of computers differently after reading this site. I hope that you have also learned something.
